4-H Standardbred Camp
NYS 4-H Summer Standardbred Driving and Management School

Sunday, August 10 to Friday, August 15, 2008


An outstanding one-week educational equine science camp, for NYS 4-H program youth that are at least 13 years of age by the first day of camp. Scroll down to read more information about this new opportunity!



General Information

A total of 25 4-H youth and 5 CCE/4-H affiliated staff or volunteers may attend the camp. Selection process will depend upon the pool of applicants and is at the discretion of the Extension Horse Specialist and 4-H Camp Wyomoco staff. A lottery system may be used if there are more applicants by the registration deadline than there are spaces.

Youth – participants may or may not have attended 4-H Standardbred Camp at SUNY Morrisville.

Adults – A maximum of 5 adult participants may attend 4-H Standardbred Camp. They can be CCE staff or volunteers, but must be affiliated with CCE and the NYS 4-H Horse Program. Please encourage staff, leaders, and volunteers to take advantage of this opportunity!

Eligibility – Youth must be:

  • Enrolled in the NYS 4-H Horse Program.

  • At least 13 years of age as of the first day of camp, but not more than 19 years of age as of January 1 of the current calendar year.

  • Be approved for participation by the county CCE/4-H educator/staff in the county of enrollment.

  • Have parent/guardian permission.

  • Agree to conform with and sign a code of conduct from 4-H Camp Wyomoco.

  • Complete appropriate paperwork required for participation.

After the registration deadline, June 1, 2008, 4-H Camp Wyomoco will send a complete packet of information that will be mailed directly to the youth who have been accepted to camp. This packet will include:

  • A parent & camper handbook

  • Health Form

  • 4-H Camp Wyomoco Standardbred Driving & Management School Handbook

  • Any other needed information



This is an excellent camp facility and an outstanding equine educational program! This year we are pleased to add a significant 4-H youth development component to the program. Encourage youth to attend – this is truly a wonderful program!
