PREPARING FOR CAMP
A camper's first year at camp can be both exciting and scary. It is often the camper's first extended period of time spent away from home. It is very easy to make this the best week of the camper's life and make him or her want to come back every year.
Campers should bring enough clothes to last them a week. Campers do not have access to a washing machine. Remember- sometimes it rains. Sometimes it's cold. Consider everything the weather could do while you're packing.Pack with your camper. Make sure he or she knows where everything is. It is sometimes a good idea to pack a dirty laundry bag.Remember two campers may own the same article of clothing, book, comb, or teddy bear. Label all of the camper's possessions to avoid confusion when packing up to go home. BLANKETS! There is no heat in the cabins. It may be warm during the day, but temperatures often drop significantly at night. Do not pack: knives, matches, lighters, cigarettes, drugs, or anything else that could be harmful to anyone. If anything inappropriate is found, it will be taken from the camper and not returned. Medications do not need to be packed, as they will be given to the nurse upon arrival. Though campers may bring candy, it must be securely locked in the candy lockers, not kept in their bags. No food is to be kept in the cabins! Most importantly..... WRITE! Campers love to receive mail, and with our new camper e-mail option it's even easier this year. Be sure to give your camper paper, envelopes, stamps, and addresses if you expect them to write.
